With all the hype surrounding Jamie Vardy's current form as the Premier League top goalscorer the hunt is on for the next big thing out of non-league football and Moses Emmanuel may well be the answer.

As Bromley took on Boreham Wood at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night there were a number of scouts casting an eye over the 26-year-old striker.

Despite the 2-1 defeat for his side Emmanuel made the trip worthwhile for the onlooking scouts with an impressive strike, taking his tally to 15 for the season, that certainly impressed Partick Thistle scout David Fisher.

“There are a lot of scouts here tonight, there are about ten or 15 of us,” confirmed Fisher talking to BBC Radio Five live reporter George Riley for the daily football show on Tuesday night.

“Patrick Thistle are looking for the Chris Smalling’s, the Vardy's. They need that player.

“They haven't got the finances, their neighbours are Celtic and Rangers and they need those lower league players to come and step up.”

The defeat for Bromley saw them slip out of the top five of the National League table but for Emmanuel the evening may not prove to be too much of a disappointment.

Fisher admitted there were a few players on display that caught his eye but it was Emmanuel that had stood out the most despite being slightly older than what scouts usually look for.

“There are a couple of young lads, we have a DNA. We're looking for 19-23 year-olds but if they are a bit older and outstanding such as Moses then we'll take a punt.

“We're definitely coming back to see Emmanuel, he scored a stunning goal tonight.”

Vardy's rise from Stocksbridge Park Steels to the current Premier League top scorer and international recognition has inspired many non-league footballers to dare to dream of playing at the top level and Emmanuel is no different.

Speaking earlier himself on the BBC programme, before Bromley faced Boreham Wood, Emmanuel described his aspirations of emulating Vardy but said he is never made aware of who is coming to watch him.

“You don't know when scouts are there to watch you but you just hope people are watching, I am the sort of person that would not want to know and just continue to focus on my football at the time,” said Emmanuel.

“You hear people talking and you just try to push it to one side and concentrate on your football because you know as long as your football is doing the talking people will come and watch you.

“I never give up hope and just continue doing what I am doing. Hopefully god has got a plan for me and it works out,” added Emmanuel.
