Bromley boss Mark Goldberg has admitted that the Ravens may struggle to keep hold of Vanarama National League top scorer Moses Emmanuel if bigger clubs were to come sniffing around.

Emmanuel, who notched his 15th of the campaign in the defeat to Boreham Wood on Tuesday evening, has previously played league football for Brentford and has made the headlines with his explosive start to life in the top tier of non-league football.

And Goldberg confessed that the Hayes Lane outfit may have a fight on their hands to keep the Lewisham-born man if a football league club tries to swoop.

“I think it would be very difficult if the right club comes along,” explained Goldberg.

“I think it’s inevitable that clubs will have a look. He’s doing extremely well and he’s shown tonight the class he has when he got us back into the game.”

The Bromley chief was talking after his sides’ loss to the team that finished as bridesmaids in the Conference South last season when Bromley took the title.

Two goals in the opening 11 minutes had put the visitors in command, and despite Emmanuel pulling one back from the edge of the area before half time, Bromley were not able to find an equaliser after the break.

Goldberg was unhappy with the poor opening which gave his side a mountain to climb throughout the game.

“Very disappointed with the way we started tonight,” explained the former Crystal Palace Chairman.

“It was a bit of a makeshift back four. It could take a little bit of time for Lee Minshull to settle in as a centre half. He did us a favour today by playing there.

“But at the same time, there’s no real excuse for trying to play the ball out from the back the way that we did. We got caught out with the basics but had chances to clear our lines before they started dominating possession.

“In all fairness, when they went 2-0 up it looked like they could go on a bit of a rout. The fact that we grinded ourselves back into the game, and then as time went on, if we got a goal before the half then game on.

"So it was very disappointing having got that goal just before half time that we didn’t make more of it in the second half.”

The Lilywhites, who have suffered somewhat of an injury crisis in recent weeks, face Altrincham at home on Saturday in what will be the clubs first ever live televised game, with the BT Sports cameras making an appearance at Hayes Lane for a 12.30pm kick off.

Goldberg hopes that he’ll have some bodies back in time for the historic occasion.

“My hope is that we can get some players back from injury ,” he said.

“We’re hopeful with Max Porter and Ben May, hopeful with Pierre Joseph-Dubois potentially. Anthony Cook will be back and hopefully Ben Chorley.”

The Bromley boss insisted that the extra pressure of the TV cameras will not affect his side adversely.

“If anything, it should inspire the players to respond and put on a good performance,” he explained.

“The only thing I can say is we can only deal with the cards that we’ve got, and if we don’t get enough players back its going to be another difficult fixture for us.

“We’ve been in front of TV cameras before (albeit not live). We’ll treat it as just a game that we need to respond from our disappointment tonight with a win.”
