Multiple Chelsea legends – including Italian superstar Gianfranco Zola – were on hand to open a new café in Bromley.

Zola was joined by former Blues striker Andriy Shevchenko and midfield duo Dennis Wise and Roberto Di Matteo to officially launch the new gelato and coffee bar Unico on Monday (November 9).

Zola, 49, who made over 200 appearances for Chelsea, is the co-founder of Unico and was in the shop on Bromley High Street handing our samples and meeting fans.

Sara Poloni, a member of the Unico team, said: “It was a brilliant day – very hectic and busy but lots of fun and we hope all of those who came to the parlour had a great time.

“We were so pleased to be able to invite so many football legends. Gianfranco was joined by Andriy, Dennis and Roberto and everyone had a great time talking to them about food and football.

“The Chelsea legends really enjoyed their day and so did our customers.”

Unico prepares fresh gelato, coffee, cakes, sandwiches, pastries and ice-cream cakes.

“I am excited to bring the flavours that I love to Bromley,” said Zola.

“Unico was born from the friendship of myself, Leonardo and Elena and her family and our desire to bring the Italian tradition of gelato making to the UK.”

The football legend, who after an illustrious playing career spent time as manager of West Ham and Watford, also met Bromley FC Assistant Manager Neil Smith at the opening.

Smith, 44, presented Zola with a special edition Bromley shirt, before the Italian promised to make a trip to Hayes Lane to watch the Ravens in action.
