Bromley manager Mark Goldberg has admitted that the pressure of a promotion challenge affected him last season.

The Ravens spent seven seasons in the Conference South from 2007-2014 but after narrowly missing out on promotion in the 2013-14 season, expectations were high going into last term.

Goldberg secured promotion in emphatic style as Bromley claimed the title by two points after winning 23 of their 40 matches, and the manager has admitted it was an important season for him.

“Maybe I felt the pressure a lot more last year,” Goldberg said.

“It was a year when I had to succeed and get promoted – this year expectations aren’t massively high in our own camp, but we do have a lot of belief and are playing with freedom.

Bromley have enjoyed a superb start to life in the National League and currently sit 5th after recording eight wins in ten games.

And the Bromley boss believes the club’s home form has been central to their solid run.

He added: “That’s the difference between us last year and this year – last season we couldn’t play at home, the pressure was too much for us.
