Tony Burman is confident Dartford can put their difficult start to the season behind them and get back to a satisfactory position in the National League South.

After suffering relegation from the Conference last season, the Darts have made an indifferent start to the new campaign, losing six of their 12 league matches.

Their form consists of a run of four defeats in all competitions and Burman admitted he has been disappointed by their efforts.

He said: “It’s been frustrating, of course, but we’ve been competing.

“I was expecting more at this stage but it’s up to the players and the staff now to get back on track.

“I think a lot of our play has been good, but we just haven’t scored enough goals.

“We’ve been creating chances – it’s getting the ball into the net which has been the issue.”

While Dartford’s results have been disappointing, they have not been beaten by more than one goal all season.

And Burnam, who has managed the club for more than a decade, is adamant the team can improve their standing in the league in the coming weeks.

“We have introduced some younger players who I believe have performed well,” the 57-year-old added.

“It’s a tight, competitive league and a couple of wins will get us back to where we want to be.

“The break has given us the opportunity to look at a few things. We’ve had an in-house match and been training hard.

“We have always had a good dressing room and I’m confident that this group can turn things around.

“We just need a few goals; we don’t care how they come.”

When asked whether he still has the desire to instigate a return to the Conference, the Princes Park chief replied: “Absolutely – of course I do.

“I’ve built teams before here and I’ll do it again.”
