Bromley recorded back to back victories on Saturday afternoon, following their heavy defeat at Tranmere Rovers a week earlier.

Having bounced back with Tuesday’s victory over Welling United, they overcame a poor Barrow side at Hayes Lane by five goals to nil – with five different goalscorers.

Most of the early pressure came from Bromley without threatening the Barrow defence too much, but once they had opened the scoring in the 18th minute there was only going to be one winner.

A quickly taken free kick to Joe Anderson, saw his cross put behind for a corner.

Anthony Cook’s deep flag kick was headed back into the goal area by Rob Swaine, where Jack Holland stretched to guide his header into the top corner for his second goal in as many matches.

After a cross shot from Barrow’s George Williams had landed on top of the Bromley net, the home side increased their lead on 25 minutes.

Cook picked up the ball just inside the Barrow half and proceeded to run at the opposing defence and, after riding four challenges, unleashed a 25-yard volley that left Joel Dixon in the Barrow goal grasping thin air for a fine individual goal.

Ali Fuseini was denied by Steve Williams with a timely tackle, as the hosts continued to enjoy plenty of the possession leading up to the interval.

The second half was just four minutes old when Bromley increased their score with another goal.

Moses Emmanuel broke clear before slipping the ball inside to Reece Prestedge who was clear on goal.

The midfielder kept a calm head and neatly chipped the advancing Dixon into an empty net.

Andy Haworth went close at the other end with a header, which went narrowly wide, before Louis Dennis skimmed the crossbar for Bromley, after cutting in from the left.

The home side went further ahead on 65 minutes when Prestedge returned the compliment to Emmanuel by brilliantly switching play with a long accurate pass out right to the unmarked Bromley leading scorer.

He took one touch before rifling home past the exposed goalkeeper for his thirteenth goal of the season.

Bromley could have even prolonged their lead further towards the end.

On 78 minutes Fuseini put Dennis in clear on goal, but the winger’s first touch was too heavy and the goalkeeper was able to get out and save at Dennis’s feet.

And again, on 85 minutes, Dixon came out of his area to head away a clearance, but only as far as Dennis who promptly fired towards an empty goal only to find that defender Danny Livesay had got back to head off the line.

However, Dennis was to have the last word as he completed the scoring with two minutes remaining.

Picking up the ball on the left touchline, he cut in towards goal and placed a perfect 25-yard shot beyond the reach of a despairing goalkeeper and into the top corner of the net.
