Visiting Kidderminster Harriers, George Porter's first Welling United league goal was sufficient to earn Welling United their fourth consecutive win.

New signing, Sandro Semedo, on loan from Leyton Orient, was selected in place of Xavier Vidal in Welling's only change to the line up from their win against F.C. Halifax seven days earlier.

An early Ricky Wellard shot was blocked before a needless foul on the edge of the box gave the hosts a chance. Luke Maxwell slung in the free kick but Tom King gathered comfortably.

Alex Palmer, in the Kidderminster goal, was given a warning not to dilly dally when caught in possession by Sahr Kabba, but the Wings striker's tackle went out of play.

After fifteen minutes, Welling won the first corner of the match and almost took full advantage. Ben Jefford's firm header back was met by Wellard's shot but Palmer claimed at the second attempt.

Michael Chambers then headed back a free kick that caused further chaos but Kidderminster scrambled away.

After some sustained Welling pressure, the hosts had a spell that was broken up when Nortei Nortey dispossessed Luke Maxwell. Having won it, he passed to George Porter who's brilliant pass found Semedo in space on the left hand side. Having worked himself the opportunity to shoot, his effort went wide.

Once again, Kidderminster's difficulties in dealing with deep dead ball deliveries was shown when Kevin Lokko met Wellard's deep free kick and his header back was carried over the line by Palmer under illegal pressure from Kabba.

Although the hosts made the Welling defence work again before the break, the teams went in level with neither goalkeeper being overworked.

Semedo was substituted at half time, replaced by Reece Harris.

Three minutes after the interval, Welling went ahead. A poor clearance was picked up by Harry Lee who tried to jink his way through only to be brought down on the edge of the area. Having looked to the management team for advice, Porter was given the responsibility and blasted a free kick through Palmer for his first Welling goal.

Porter was involved in the next major talking point. Having been sent clear beyond the last defender, he was pulled back by Jordan Tunnicliffe. Although he tried to keep his feet, his balance was disrupted and he went to ground. Referee Karl Evans had no option other than to dismiss the defender.

Tom King, in the Welling goal, claimed a low Maxwell shot from a tight angle but Welling still enjoyed more of the possession without creating clear cut chances.

Play became disjointed with a string of substitutions but Welling continued to search for the second that would give them breathing space.

Sam Corne looked to replicate his spectacular effort earlier in the season, but was well off target, then substitute Xavier Vidal and Wellard had efforts blocked before Harris fired the loose clearance over.

Once again Harris fired over as Welling enjoyed the numerical advantage without creating clear cut chances.

Reece Styche blasted wide for Kidderminster before the end of regulation time as the hosts hoped to profit from Welling's failure to kill the game off.

Two minutes into the additional five, Kevin Langmead rose but headed wide from Jared Hodgkiss' cross.

Langmead then headed over from a corner as the hosts continued to press however Palmer was called into making a fantastic save from Porter in the final few seconds as Welling saw out the win that took them up to fifteenth place in the top division of non league football.
