Welling succumbed to their 5th straight away defeat on Tuesday as a deflected Richard Brodie effort was enough to give Aldershot Town a 1-0 victory.

They had an opportunity to take the lead early on but an Xavier Vidal free kick was gathered by former Welling keeper Dan Thomas.

Sam Hatton went close for the home side through a free kick that was well saved by McEntegart and Jim Stevenson was lacking the composure needed as he shot over, when well placed.

It was Aldershot creating the better chances and Charlie Walker shot over from an acute angle.

Back came Welling and George Porter saw a deflected shot go wide for a corner.

A last ditch Barney Williams block prevented Stevenson scoring at the back post deep into first half stoppage although rather surprisingly a goal kick was given.

The Shots opened the scoring in the 49th minute. Brodie was allowed time and space to hit a shot which took a wicked deflection off Kevin Lokko and left McEntegart a mere spectator as it sailed over the keeper's head and into the net.

Aldershot were now in full control. The Wings looking shell shocked, Brodie nearly got a second but just failed to connect with a header at the back post. Walker was next to try his luck but shot wide.

Some really lackadaisical play from Welling sub Ricky Wellard saw him give the ball away from his own free kick and it needed McEntegart to deny Cheye Alexander from the counter attack.

With ten minutes to go Welling lost Williams who saw a second yellow for pulling back Matthew Barnes-Homer.

Deep into injury time Michael Chambers just failed to connect with a Wellard free kick, but in truth it would have been incredibly harsh on Aldershot Town had Welling snatched a point.
