Bromley gained their second win of the season with a comprehensive 3-0 Hayes Lane victory over Gateshead on Saturday.

All of the goals came in the final quarter of an hour and were just reward after Bromley had dominated for long periods throughout.

In an entertaining game it was Gateshead who had the first opportunity when Paddy McLaughlin fired narrowly wide.

Josh Gillies and Danny Johnson again went close for the visitors before the hosts took control.

Anthony Cook fired narrowly over the bar and Alex Wall was unlucky when his delicate touch on Moses Emmanuel’s cross came back off the woodwork.

Alan Julian saved well from Jimmy Phillips and then the Ravens keeper tipped Johnson’s strike around the post after the front-runner had dummied two defenders to create the chance.

The home side started the second period strongly and Bradley Goldberg was denied by Gateshead keeper Sam Russell producing a diving save at the foot of the post.

Cook’s 30 yard drive was parried behind by Russell moments later and he rescued his side again just before the hour mark with a full length save from Wall’s flicked header.

Goldberg scooped an effort wide of the far post after he rode two tackles and a challenge from the keeper.

Emmanuel was then denied by Russell at the expense of a corner, from which Max Porter’s header was cleared off the line by Matty Pattison.

The goal which Bromley had been threatening finally came on 75 minutes.

Substitute Louis Dennis rounded two defenders before playing a pass inside his marker to Emmanuel, who calmly chipped the advancing keeper.

Bromley doubled their advantage with five minutes remaining.

Dennis dispossessed a defender some 40 yards out and, with a clear sight of goal, ran forward before rifling home from 25 yards past an exposed Russell.

And the icing was put on the cake in stoppage time when Emmanuel grabbed his second and Bromley’s third, rounding a defender and the keeper to convert into an empty net.

This weekend the Ravens are back at Hayes Lane to host Macclesfield Town (3pm).
