Honours were shared at Mill Field on a wet Monday night as a late Lea Dawson strike was enough to earn Cray a point against Aveley.  The point was enough to lift Cray even if only for 24 hours to the top of the Isthmian League North table.

The game was never a classic and Cray were not always at their best but showed character to come back from a goal down at the break.

Aveley took the lead on 32 minutes when Petrit Elbi, who had earlier hit the post headed home from a Abs Seymour cross.

Cray were the better side second half and came close to scoring through James Duckworth, Sean Roberts and Andre McCollin before levelling eight minutes from time.

A free kick from Grant Basey was floated into the penalty area and Dawson with his back to goal acrobatically fired home to send Cray perhaps only for 24 hours to the top of the table.
