In a keenly contested game, Jordan Parkes' second half winner was enough to split the two teams.

Had it been a league match, Alex Osborn could twice have been cautioned in the early minutes, first for throwing the ball away right in front of the referee, then for tripping Barney Williams as he burst away. However, in the context of this game, it was probably right that there was leniency.

Tashan Adeyinka shot wide after good work by Sahr Kabba before the visitors went ahead.

There looked little danger when a deep cross came over but trialist goalkeeper Ben McNamara and defender Harry Osborne got in a terrible tangle allowing Jordan Parkes to slip home.

After that, Ebbsfleet enjoyed the better of the chances. Parkes had a shot saved comfortably and then a header claimed from Matt Fish's cross.

Fish enjoyed more space on the right and broke again before sliding across the face of goal just out of the range of Osborn.

Osborn was off target moments later as was Xavier Vidal at the other end before the referee called for a drinks break.

Immediately after Osborn should have doubled the lead but headed wide at the far post following a great cross by Robbie Wilmott.

Another Fish break ended with a fierce drive that McNamara did well to tip over.

Stuart Lewis then took a training ground corner laying back for the incoming Parkes to meet with a piledriver from more than 20 yards that rattled the bar.

Former Wing Danny Kedwell then missed a great chance from another Parkes pass before Welling created some opportunities of their own.

First Ricky Wellard lobbed over the oncoming Brandon Hall, and the crossbar. Then he met a Reece Harris corner sweetly with a header bringing a brilliant save out of Hall. Finally, his corner was flicked on by Ben Jefford but Michael Chambers could not finish.

They paid for that when Ebbsfleet grabbed a second on half time. McNamara made a great block from Lewis' close range effort but could do nothing when it came out for Kenny Clark to finish at close range

Hall made another fantastic save early in the second half when Wellard's corner was met by Osborne.

Substitute George Porter appeared to liven the Wings up and he did well to spin and shoot, but failed to hit the target.

Nine minutes after the break the Wings halved the arrears when Vidal crossed, Williams flicked on and Wellard finished crisply.

On the hour, Welling drew level when Afolabi Obafemi poked home Porter's cross.

During that fifteen minute spell, and for a while after, Welling looked irrepressible but Ebbsfleet clawed their way back and Wilmott blasted over having got himself into a good position.

Both teams looked to create to find a winner but it was the visitors who claimed the spoils with fifteen minutes remaining when Fish picked out Parkes with time to place his header beyond Grant Smith.
