Neil Harris has promised to give Millwall fans a glimpse of the future when the Lions kick-off their pre-season campaign at Bromley on Tuesday evening.

It has been a summer of huge change at The Den with the release of some big names following relegation from the Championship.

Former U21s boss Harris had no hesitation selecting youngsters in the first team after he replaced Ian Holloway in March, a policy set to continue when the League One side visit Conference new-boys Bromley next week.

“The supporters can expect to see what they saw towards the end of last season albeit in a friendly, although it will be competitive,” the Den chief said.

“They will see a young squad. There will be some senior players on the pitch but on the whole it will be a younger squad and they will see some early foundations of what we are going to build on.

“Hopefully they will see a team that is a work in progress which will be ready for August 8.

“The plan is most players will play 45 minutes at Bromley.

“If a couple need to play longer then they will. A couple might play shorter than 45.

“We will judge it as we go but we will have a much clearer idea after coming back from Portugal who is at what level of fitness and who can play what minutes in the early games at Bromley and Wimbledon.”
