Bromley were forced to settle for a point from Easter Monday’s thrilling 4-4 draw at Maidenhead United.

After the euphoria of Saturday’s win over Boreham Wood, it was a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show as a sloppy defensive display saw Maidenhead gain a well deserved share of the spoils thanks to a last-gasp equaliser.

The hosts raced into an two-goal lead inside 14 minutes, both scored by Adrian Clifton.

His sixth minute opener saw him drive home from 10 yards following a long throw in, while the second eight minutes later saw the skipper head past Alan Julian unchallenged from Danny Green’s corner.

This shocked Bromley and they reduced the arrears in the 21st minute when Anthony Cook scored direct with a free-kick from the edge of the penalty area.

They levelled three  minutes later as Cook latched onto a cross to chip the advancing keeper, allowing Moses Ademola to nip in at the far post and squeeze the ball home.

Pierre Joseph-Dubois came close to putting Bromley ahead when his volley, from Ali Fuseini’s lob forward, came back off the bar, while and David Hunt’s attempt at the other end went wide on the half time whistle.

It took Maidenhead just three minutes of the second half to regain the lead, as not for the first time Bromley failed to deal with a long throw in and the unmarked Dave Tarpey was on hand to convert from close range.

Tarpey saw another attempt well saved by Julian two minutes later before the Bromley stopper did well to block Clifton’s hard hit shot.

The rebound fell to Tarpey, who blazed over a gapping goal.

Bromley survived that period of pressure and levelled once again in the 63rd minute.

Joseph-Dubois outpaced the home defence to score at the second attempt after his first effort had hit the legs of Simon Downer.

Four minutes later, Bromley took the lead for the first time in the match.

Ben May’s back heel put Reece Prestedge clear on goal and he went on to slot home from just inside the area past a diving Ashley Timms.

The home side stepped up the pace towards the end and Rodgers denied Sam Barrett with a timely tackle.

Green came within inches of an equaliser with a first-time volley that went just post the post.

But Maidenhead did deservedly score three minutes into stoppage time.

A poorly taken free kick by Joe Anderson went straight to a defender, who promptly hoofed up field for Barrett who picked out Harry Pritchard and his left wing cross was powered home by Tarpey to deny Bromley victory.
