Following their well earned point at Woking, Welling United had no answer to the physical approach from Eastleigh and fell to another home defeat.

Loui Fazakerley decided to beef up his team by making tactical changes to allow the muscular Tashan Adeyinka to replace Sam Corne. Meanwhile, Eastleigh manager Richard Hill took advantage of his larger squad by making five cahnges to the team that lost to Dover two days earlier.

Helped by officials who failed to stamp down on tactics that sometimes crossed the line, Eastleigh bullied their way to three points.

Seven minutes into the game, Jai Reason was left totally unmarked beyond the far post to head home with ease.

Minutes later Joe Partington's header from a similar position hit the crossbar as Welling struggled to cope with Eastleigh's direct style of play.

Paul Reid, captain of the Spitfires, set the tone with a disgraceful kick out on Ross Lafayette that was either ignored or missed by the officials.

Ross Flitney was cautioned for dissent as the visitors continued to push the boundaries but was soon even more upset when left to pick the ball out of his net. Ben Jefford clipped in a near post corner that Harry Osbourne met with a crisp header home.

Brian Howard and James Constable both had shots saved comfortably and Craig Stanley shot wide before the break.

Reason came close with a free kick early in the second period before Tashan Adeyinka was unable to keep a header from Barney Williams' cross down.

Fouls and offsides punctuated the game before Eastleigh went ahead with fifteen minutes remaining.

There seemed little danger as Eastleigh moved out of midfield but there was a lack of challenge as James Turley cut in before firing the ball beyond Jonathan Henly.

Chances were few and far between after that. Adeyinka shot wide for Welling and Jack Midson did likewise for Eastleigh.

Despite their need for the points, Welling were unable to create a further opportunity and suffered another home defeat.
