Cheshunt 1
Cray Wanderers 1
A late penalty earned Cray a point against Cheshunt in a scrappy game which only really came to life in the last half hour.
There were few chances in the first half with the best Wands attempt coming from Adrian Stone who connected with a half hit volley which went straight to keeper Richard Heywood.
In the second half Cray were unlucky not to score when Orlando Smith worked his way down the right and laid the ball across to Rory Hill who hit a fine shot which went just over the top.
On 59 minutes out of the blue the home side took the lead. Cray had a free kick close to goal but the ball was cleared up field and substitute Ben Andreos ran on and as Dean Gardikiotis advanced clipped the ball neatly into the net.
Cray were unfortunate not to level after a great piece of skill from Warren Whitely who fired in a shot which cannoned back off the crossbar from 20 yards.
Cray got back into the game when Smith was brought down by Heywood in the area and after a lengthy delay Chris Piper showed great composure to tuck his spot kick into the bottom right to level the scores in the 86th minute.
Cray: D. Gardikiotis, Griffin (Ashikodi, 67), Simpson, Fakinos, Humphrey (Capt.), Fitzgerald, Whitely, Piper, Stone (Teniola, 74), Smith, Hill: Subs: Springett, A. Gardikiotis, Ives
