Cray got back to winning ways with their first league victory since September 27th as three second half goals saw off the challenge of Heybridge Swifts.

The best opening of the first half came after fifteen minutes when Orlando Smith set up Adrian Stone for a shot almost from the penalty spot which was brilliantly tipped over by Danny Sambridge.

From the resulting corner from Chris Piper, Stone’s flicked header was again palmed over by Sambridge.

The game came alive on 61 minutes with Cray taking the lead.  A good ball from out on the left by Warren Whitely to Smith in the middle who then passed to the right side to Nathan Simpson.  Simpson ran on and put in a cross-shot which looped into the goal over Sambridge for his first goal for the club.

Cray went two nil up on 71 minutes with surely a contender for goal of the season.  Whitely again found Smith just outside the area who full on the volley and off the side foot hit a screamer into the top left corner of the net.

Adrian Stone got his name on the scoresheet six minutes from time when his shot took a deflection before hitting the back of the net.
