Two new Jody Brown signings made their Welling United debuts at Forest Green Rovers as Welling slumped to another away defeat.

Harry Osborne, on loan from Charlton Athletic, fitted into right back and Josh Carmichael, at Welling for a month, took up a position in midfield.

Jon Parkin failed to get any purchase on a header easily claimed by Jonathan Henly then Carmichael fired over for the Wings.

Parkin did well to head back a deep corner but Henly was fouled as he tipped the follow up onto the crossbar.

Another corner worried Welling but Parkin headed over from inside the six yard box.

High quality Welling passing sent Joe Healy away and he finished superbly from Jake Gallagher's final through ball in the 19th minute.

Just one minute later, Forest Green equalised when Welling were caught by a quick free kick. Elliott Frear appeared to be well offside but was allowed to bring it down on the left wing and cross low. Parkin had time to control it before picking his spot as the linesman caught up with play.

End to end football continued and Healy fired over from the edge of the box.

England C international, James Norwood, then broke for the Rovers but his fierce drive was beaten out well by Henly. His next effort lacked accuracy and flew well wide.

Clovis Kamdjo tested Henly with a low shot that he saved comfortably as the hosts again broke sharply.

Aarran Racine headed over when Kurtis Guthrie nodded a training ground rehearsed Marcus Kelly corner forward.

As the game neared the end of the first period, the hosts upped the pressure and Henly was again called upon to make an important block from Dale Bennett.

Reece Harris became the third Welling debutant when replacing Healy at the break.

Once again, Norwood looked dangerous when hitting a fierce drive wide but the hosts went ahead on 55 minutes when Parkin's looping header gave Henly no chance.

Referee Adam Bromley, who officiated Welling's recent game with FC Halifax Town again left the Wings' players shaking their heads with a series of poor decisions the worst being his action when Rovers' goalkeeper Sam Russell clattered Charlie Penny in the area for a clear penalty. Incredibly, a corner was awarded even though it was clear that nobody got a touch.

Again, Welling got caught in possession and Rob Sinclair surged away and played out to Kelly whose first time cross was headed home by Guthrie.

Rod Young replaced Aristide Bassele after his loan spell at Bishop's Stortford.

Gallagher went close for Welling with a drive that went just wide with Russell struggling.

Norwood added a fourth, and once again Welling were the architects of their own downfall. A ridiculous midfield pass allowed Bennett to cross for Norwood to finish.

Welling did not give up and Gallagher forced Russell into an excellent save but Charlie Penny put the rebound just wide.

Sam Corne forced Russell into another good save in injury time but to no avail.

Jody Brown now has the break he wants to work with the team in training to start implementing his methods.
