A goal on his debut from Tyrus Gordon-Young earned the Wands a point against high flying Soham Town Rangers.
As with almost every home match this season Cray started the game well and looked good going forward.
Their best chance came in the 23rd minute when Rory Hill’s cross fell to Gordon-Young whose attempted overhead kick went wide of the goal.
However, rather against the run of play the visitors took the lead on the half hour when following hesitation at the back a shot from Luke Stanley was parried and the ball fell to David Prada who tucked home a tidy finish as Soham led at half time.
The Wands came close twice early in the second half when Cesc Fakinos’s cross was headed wide by Shaun Welford before on 57 minutes Soham keeper Joe Templeman made a superb save from Michael Phillips’s goal bound header.
Cray got the goal their performance deserved on 68 minutes when Hussein Isa’s corner kick was met powerfully by the head of Gordon-Young and the ball flew into the net past Templeman.
Gordon-Young shortly after hit a superb half volley which went just wide of the goal and Soham came close to snatching a winner when Deakan Napier’s corner was headed over by Ryan Sharman.
