Bromley scored three times in the last eight minutes in Saturday’s 5-1 second qualifying round FA Cup victory over Southern League Division One Central side Uxbridge.

The Lillywhites had struggled somewhat prior to the 58th minute when the visitors were reduced to 10-men, Dave Thomas seeing red for denying Duncan Culley a goal scoring opportunity.

But the numerical advantage told in the end as Bromley eased through to the next stage.

The hosts opened brightly with Culley heading against the bar in the fourth minute, and the centre forward shot wide three minutes later.

Jack Holland headed over from Reece Prestedge’s corner, awarded when Uxbridge keeper Rourke Pickford punched Ugo Udoji’s cross away from underneath the bar.

The pressure paid off as Culley put Bromley in front on 12 minutes.

Pierre Joseph-Dubois flicked on keeper Seb Brown’s long clearance and Culley coolly rounded Pickford to slot home.

Uxbridge were on level terms immediately, as Matty Wood’s free-kick from the left was headed home at the near post by Kevin Warner.

The visitors might have taken the lead in the 17th minute when Craig Tomkins fierce shot was turned around by Brown.

Two minutes later, Woods turned in the area only to drag his shot wide of the post.

Harry Grant was denied by a smart block by Pickford and Culley’s glancing header sailed just wide before Bromley regained their lead in the 38th minute.

Moses Ademola was upended 25 yards out and Danny Waldren curled the free-kick around the defensive wall into the corner of the net.

Woods placed a shot well wide when it looked easier to hit the target, and eight minutes into the second period the visiting centre forward was denied by Brown after being put clear on goal.

The game turned in Bromley’s favour just before the hour when Uxbridge were reduced to 10-men, but Woods should have levelled the scoreline four minutes later when he headed wide from just six yards with only Brown to beat.

That was more or less the end of Uxbridge’s challenge, as Bromley pushed forward in ever increasing numbers.

Waldren chipped a gilt-edged chance just wide, Adam Birchall was twice denied by Pickford and debutant Jordan Robertson was just off target.

With eight minutes remaining, substitute Damian Scannell skipped around two defenders to make it 3-1.

And Robertson added a fourth four minutes later with a low drive past Pickford.

Robertson might have struck again on 88 minutes, only to see Pickford parry his shot.

But two minutes into stoppage time the newcomer’s low cross found Birchall at the far post, who had a simple task to tap home his first goal in Bromley colours.
