Cray Wanderers have confirmed boss Keith Bird has left the club by mutual consent and been replaced by joint caretaker managers Mike Paye and Gary Abbott.

Paye had been assistant manager under Bird, while former player Abbott was his coach.

Bird’s departure follows a string of poor results which have left the Wands languishing at the foot of the Ryman League Division One North.

Club chairman Gary Hillman said: “The club would like to thank Keith for all is hard work and effort over the Last year and wish him all the best in the future.”

Paye and Abbott’s first game in charge is Saturday away trip to league leaders Needham Market.
