Cray’s final away game in the Isthmian Premier League ended in an emphatic Bank Holiday Monday defeat after a clinical display of finishing from Margate.

This was also the Wands’ fifth straight league defeat.

The first half was very scrappy, only livened up by a tremendous free-kick from Sam Rents on 21 minutes to give the home side the lead.

It was certainly a better game after the break, but only form a Margate perspective as they ran in four more goals.

Two minutes after the interval the impressive Matt Bodkin struck with a fine shot to make it 2-0.

Adrian Stone came close to pulling one back but his shot was well saved by Margate keeper Nikki Bull.

Margate made it 3-0 on 70 minutes when Charles Ademeno showed great strength to run through and score.

It became four five minutes from time as an unmarked Charlie Allen converted from Bodkin’s cross.

The fifth came in the last minute courtesy of veteran forward Jefferson Louis to cap a bad day for the Wands.

Cray’s final match of the season is on Saturday at home to Enfield Town (3pm).
