BROMLEY manager Mark Goldberg has dedicated his side’s London Senior Cup victory last night to the Bromley supporters.

The Lillywhites capped off a topsy-turvy season with some welcome silverware, defeating Kingstonian 2-1 at Imber Court on Tuesday night.

And Goldberg was quick to thank the club’s loyal followers afterwards.

He told News Shopper: “They deserved tonight because as hard a season as it has been for me and the players, it has been a hard season for the fans.

“So that’s for the fans.”

Having questioned the individual efforts of some players during the disappointing end to the league season, the Bromley boss was left in no doubt about his team’s endeavour on the night and was full of praise for his cup winners.

He said: “The players showed they cared to win tonight to end the season on a high for themselves, for the fans, for the club and maybe to show they want to be part of the club next year.

“It couldn’t have been a better end to the season than to have won tonight.

“It’s wonderful.”

Bromley got off to a perfect start, with Elliott Buchanan rifling in from long range with just two minutes on the clock.

And it got better for the Conference South side as Aaron Rhule doubled the lead after 38 minutes, tapping home from a low Louis Theophanous cross.

Bromley would continue to put on a fine defensive display following Helge Orome’s dismissal just before the hour.

The Ivory Coast U21 international was shown red for tugging on Kingstonian striker Jamil Okai when through on goal.

But it mattered not, as the 10-men shut out their Isthmian Premier opponents until the very last kick of the game.

Okai fired home a consolation goal deep inside injury time, the final whistle coming before the match could even be restarted.

Goldberg had no complaints as far as the red card was concerned and reserved special praise for young keeper George Howard, who pulled off a string of impressive saves.

The gaffer explained: “I don’t think he tried to foul, he just got in the way.

“It was a sending off but didn’t we defend well?

“Georgie Howard in goal got released from Charlton last year and he’s had a great season, really.

“What a great day for him to be lifting the London Cup in his first year.

“He was superb.

“I made him man of the match tonight."

The Bromley boss is yet to make a decision regarding his future at the club but insisted there was still a lot of thinking to be done and once again reiterated he will do whatever is right for all concerned.

Goldberg added: “I’m going to digest things over the summer.

“I’ve felt like this before, where maybe I just need a bit of time out.

“We just have to see what we have to play with next year in terms of where we are, if our funding is in place, if we get the ability to have somewhere to train next year etc.

“All these things need to be taken into account and whatever decision I make, I promise it will be in the best interest of the club.”
