KIM Dixson believes Charlton women’s team are capable of bringing the London FA Women’s Senior Cup to south-east London provided they can avoid complacency.

The Addicks face Arsenal Ladies Reserves at Redbridge FC on Thursday evening (7.30pm kick-off) after early convincing victories over Haringey Borough (12-0) and Battersea Ironsides (13-1) before beating Spurs 4-0 in the semi-final.

That result went some way to banishing memories of last year’s semi-final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and Dixson says winning the trophy this time around was always one of her main objectives this season.

She said: “Reaching a cup final is something we have wanted to happen for the last few years, so hopefully we can perform on the day against Arsenal.

“We’ve always known we can win the London Cup if we perform – that it was ours for the taking.

“Hopefully everyone turns up on Thursday and we can do that this year.

“If we play how we know we can, we shouldn’t have any issues because we are capable of beating anyone. If we go into it complacent then we’ll come unstuck.

“We did that against Tottenham last year, we didn’t perform at all.

“It was disappointing because we played them a few months later at the Valley and destroyed them.

“That made it even worse and made me want to rectify that this year.”
