ALTHOUGH Welling United knew they were safe from danger of relegation, manager Andy Ford will have demanded his players give the supporters a strong performance for their last home game of the season.
Bishop's Stortford, meanwhile, arrived at Park View Road knowing only maximum points from their remaining two matches would give them an outside chance of taking part in the play-offs.

An early shot from Orlando Smith failed to threaten the visitors' goal and Loui Fazackerley was similarly unable to find the target following a deep cross from Stortford's first meaningful attack.
The opening goal came out of the blue in the 17th minute when Sonny Cobbs shot from long distance.
His effort swerved and dipped to leave Bishops' Stortford's goalkeeper Joe Welch motionless.
Welling's goalkeeper Jamie Turner had to be alert to tip a cross over the bar before he too was beaten for the equaliser.
Ahmed Deen whipped in a tantalising free-kick which bamboozled everyone to find the back of the net.
Stortford's Danny Harris then came close to putting his side ahead when he slipped an effort past Turner.
However, Robbie Ryan got back well and had the composure to stop the ball on the line and then play it away to safety.
The Wings went ahead again in the 28th minute after Welch failed to deal with a teasing ball from Cobbs.
Sam Gargan managed to work the ball free and Smith calmly placed a shot into the net as two defenders tried to limit the area he had in which to shoot.
After this the game went quiet, although Turner had two efforts from Deen to keep out.
Harris headed over from close range early in the second half, but the linesman had raised his flag for offside anyway.
In the 54th minute, Welling should have had a penalty when Michael Kamara was brought down in the area but the referee waved play on much to the bewilderment of Welling's players and supporters alike.
Bishop's Stortford then brought on the league's leading scorer, Greg Pearson, who was nursing a slight injury.
His introduction offered little after he had brought a save from Turner from a flicked effort.
The lively Fazackerley then came close again, but an excellent clearance off the line by Kamara kept Welling ahead.
Blues then had a good penalty shout for handball dismissed by the referee before substitutions by both sides caused the game to become disjointed.
Fazackerley again turned the Wings defence inside out but shot just wide having worked a good position.
As time ran down, Welling carved out the final chance of the game when Smith blasted wide from a long way out.
On Saturday, Welling's players will have their final chance to impress Ford and his assistant Phil Handford away to Havant and Waterlooville.
