NEW Welling signings Elliot Bent and Michael Kamara may not be the only fresh faces to put pen to paper at Park View Road with new additions expected in the next couple of weeks, according to assistant manager Phil Handford.

With Welling hovering dangerously above the danger zone, new management duo of Andy Ford and Hanford are looking for more late signings to help in their relegation battle.

Handford said: "We still feel we need to strengthen the squad and Andy is trying to bring new players in as we speak.

"We are more than happy with the two lads we have just bought in, but expect some more additions in the next couple of weeks."

Right-back Kamara and striker Bent, both 19, signed just in time to figure in the Wings' vital league win at Bishop's Stortford on Tuesday.

Former Lewes and Stortford player Kamara started the game while Bent, previously at Dorchester, came on for the last 10 minutes and both debutants impressed Hanford. He said: "Kamara settled in instantly and we were very happy with his performance.

"He was a sought after player and we are fortunate to have got his signature. We needed to strengthen in that position and we have."

He added: "When Bent came on, he did equally as well.

"He's got a great opportunity to impress here and as long as he works hard, he will be an important player for us."

While Welling welcomed two new signings on Tuesday, they also parted company with strikers Omari Coleman and Amos Foyewa.

Handford insists a mix-up was needed in the Welling attack after some recent disappointing results and performances.

He said: "We needed to strengthen in that area and changes had to be made because I don't think Coleman and Foyewa were the kind of quality we wanted at the club."

Welling's attention now turns to Hayes Lane and their derby against Bromley on Saturday.

Confidence is running high in the camp after the win at Bishop's Stortford and with two victories over Bromley this season, Hanford is in a buoyant mood.

He said: "If we play how we did on Tuesday we should have every chance.

"The result was irrelevant at Bishop's Stortford, it was the manner in which we played which impressed us.

"It was the type of performance Andy and I have been looking for and it was very pleasing."

The Wings could be without defender Sonny Cobbs after he picked up a groin strain on Tuesday.
