AMOS Foyewa been drafted in as Andy Ford's first signing after agreeing to join the Wings from AFC Hornchurch.
The 26-year-old striker was expected to make his debut against Newport County, but the game was called off earlier this afternoon due to a waterlogged pitch.
Ford says that is a blessing in disguise following Saturday's 6-2 home reverse against Cambridge City and revealed he hopes to have two more new players in by the time Welling travel to Weston-super-Mare this weekend.
He said: "I need a few more bodies in to give us a bit more quality.
"I've signed Amos from Hornchurch because I felt we needed some pace up front, which he will give us.
"I had planned to use him this evening, but of course this will not happen now because of the weather.
"The postponement gives me a bit of breathing space and time to work on getting two more players in before the Weston game."
There was no winning start for Ford last weekend against Cambridge as he witnessed his new side go down 6-2 only 48 hours after his appointment.
Despite the disappointing result, Ford says there were some positive signs from his newly inherited struggling squad.
He explained: "There were quite a few players out there who, given the time to work on their fitness levels with Phil Handford and myself, have shown there is something for us to work with.
"I came to Welling because I wanted to get back into football at a decent standard and our main priority this season is to stay in this division.
"Rome wasn't built in a day and what I achieved at Gravesend certainly didn't happen overnight.
"We will take one step at a time and see what happens from there."
Robbie Ryan (hamstring) and Leon Solomon (knee) are both expected to be back in contention for selection at Weston on Saturday.
