New league for Sidcup

A NEW five-a-side league is being launched in Sidcup next month.

Soccersixes are offering a £1,000 worth of prizes for teams taking part in the twice weekly competition, which will be held at Sidcup Leisure Centre.

The community league is scheduled to kick-off on June 2 and June 4, running every Monday and Wednesday in the sports hall between 8pm and 10pm.

Two divisions comprising eight teams will fight it out for the money in a league format which includes promotion and relegation.

Teams will play an intense 30 minute match each week with a qualified referee.

The league will cost £3 per player and teams entering will have the chance to win a array of awards including trophies or cash for winners and runners-up, player of the season, and a fair play award.

Teams will also have the opportunity of playing against other teams from leagues across England in Soccersixes' national cup.

Soccersixes' Matt Scoffham said: "We understand we are the only small-sided league company in the country to offer prize money and all teams which enter will be in with a great chance of winning the money.

"Some teams will enter to win the money, others just to play in the new five-a-side league."

All matches are officiated by qualified referees, while staff will attend the league each week to ensure the smooth running of fixtures and to deal with any queries or problems. All equipment will be provided.

Anyone over the age of 16 can enter and you do not need to be an organised or established team.

The league will be fully affiliated to the FA.

Mr Scoffham added: "This league has been organised for the benefit of the community and the vast array of awards is sure to prove popular with teams.

"Our website offers teams chance to log on daily and find all their league tables, fixtures, top players and all general information regarding the league.

"We aim to ensure all teams get maximum enjoyment from playing as this makes all our hard work running and maintaining the leagues worthwhile."

Teams are advised to contact Soccersixes to register in advance and avoid disappointment as places are limited.

To register online, visit soccersixes.net or call 0870 3300 888 or 07796 696837.
