Spurs deny Fleet in race
Ebbsfleet United 10-2 London Colney
THERE will be no promotion for the Fleet Ladies despite last weekend's emphatic victory against London Colney.
Results elsewhere confirmed today Tottenham Hotspur Ladies are the league winners this season.
With only one team gaining promotion, Fleet are left to reflect on a potential second place and the Kent Cup final as their successes of the season, but their goal was always to win the league and they didn't quite make it.
Ebbsfleet have turned their ground into a fortress as they have now gone 13 months since last losing at home in league or cup, conceding only eight goals in the process.
They started brightly on Sunday racing into a 4-0 lead inside 18 minutes following goals from Kelly Philpott, Jules Teague and a brace from Kelly Campbell.
London Colney pulled one back on the half hour mark, but Fleet ladies were just too strong for them as Philpott made it five on the stroke of half-time.
Lorraine Grinyer and Teague made it 7-1, but Colney kept fighting and pulled back another with 25 minutes to go.
Ebbsfleet kept the pressure up and Philpott duly completed her hat-trick before swiftly adding another for good measure.
And on the stroke of the final whistle, Mel Bishop struck to ensure Ebbsfleet hit double figures.
