Higgins secures cup for Ebbsfleet
 |
| Billy Higgins tucks away the winning goal. |
Ebbsfleet United under-16s 1-0 Dartford under-16s
EBBSFLEET'S under-16 team enjoyed derby success against Dartford in the Kent Youth Cup final.
Within minutes of the start, Dartford crossed the ball from the left into Fleet's 18-yard box.
Fleet's Conor Bruniges struggled to get a good contact on his header and sent his clearance looping towards keeper Joe Hogan's top right hand corner.
Fortunately Hogan was equal to it and gratefully held on to pull off a fine save.
The Fleet broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when Billy Higgins ran into the penalty area, latching onto a through ball from Sam Collins.
Higgins was adjudged to have been fouled by the Dartford keeper, a challenge which he received a yellow card for.
The penalty was tucked away nicely by Higgins into the bottom left hand corner and Fleet held their own and enjoyed the majority of the possession in the remainder of the half with Dartford causing them few problems.
Ebbsfleet came out for the start of the second half with all guns blazing with Higgins going close, Danny Buglione bringing a fine save again from the Dartford keeper and Tom Phipp blasting a volley over the bar from 10 yards.
Dartford changed to a more attacking formation in a bid to get back on terms.
Although Dartford fought back bravely, they did not really trouble Hagan and Ebbsfleet held on for victory.
