Burman upbeat as Yeovil monitor May

Jay May is attracting interest from Yeovil. STEVEN HARRINGTON.

TONY Burman is hopeful striker Jay May will put pen to paper on a new deal to stay at Dartford.

May had a trial at Yeovil recently and the League One side have indicated they would like to take another look at him later in the year.

However, Burman sees no reason why the youngster will not be at Princes Park when the new campaign starts.

The Darts boss said: "Yeovil want to have a further look at him at some stage later in the year and have said they will keep an eye on his situation.

"As far as we are concerned, I'm talking to him about a new contract and he hasn't indicated he wants to leave.

"The contract is there waiting for him and Jay is perfectly entitled to go away and think about it."

Burman is also confident his present squad can prosper in the Ryman Premiership next season after offering extended deals to the majority of his title winning side.

He explained: "I've concentrated on sorting out the future of my present team first of all and am happy to keep most of them.

"There are players here who already have a wealth of experience of the Ryman Premier League and it will be a real asset for us.

"In terms of who I want to bring in, there will be new faces. I came close to signing two players last Thursday, but they opted to go elsewhere."
