TONY Burman says last night's 5-1 FA Cup replay win is the perfect shot in the arm for his side ahead of this week's home meeting with league leaders AFC Sudbury.

Dartford booked their place in the second qualifying round thanks to a Brendon Cass hat-trick and strikes from Adam Flannigan and Eddie McClements.

The manager was delighted with the outcome afterwards and hopes the result will finally kick start his side's season.

He said: "We could just easily have won by the same margin in the first game on Saturday, but the difference was we were able to take our chances this time.

"There was a bit of luck for our second goal, but we always looked in control and I thought the performance was excellent.

"The game was pretty much wrapped up by half-time and then we went further ahead in the second half and could have maybe had a few more.

"They got a penalty late on, which I still don't understand because it never was one in my opinion, and it was the only downside for us."

Dartford's reward for the win is a meeting with Camberley on Saturday week, but it is back to the league this weekend with a Princes Park clash against Sudbury.

Burman added: "They have had a terrific start to the season and will be full of confidence.

"It was important for us to get a result last night going into the Sudbury match and hopefully we can face them on a high.

"We know we are a good side and now we have to go and prove it."

The manager says he is waiting to hear back from Grays to discover if Matt Bodkin will be coming back to the Darts after the recent ending of his initial one-month loan deal.

He said: "We are still talking to Grays, but it is complicated because there are a couple of other Conference clubs also interested in Matt.

"Hopefully we will know one way or the other by Saturday."

Burman also revealed he is confident of making one new signing either tomorrow or on Friday, but refused to be drawn when asked to identify the potential target.

Meanwhile, Ryan Hayes came out of plaster this week and is expected to be available for selection again within the next three weeks.

Tommy Osborne (ankle) should also return within a month.
