Cray's leading goalscorer Michael Power was on target at Sittingbourne on Saturday but then missed a penalty-kick as the Wands drew 1-1.
Sittingbourne 1 Cray Wanderers 1, Ryman Division One South, Saturday 15.3.08, Cray earned a point from this hard fought game against another play-off chasing side from Kent, but it could and should have been three points wrapped up for the Wands inside the first hour.
Cray put the Sittingbourne goal under siege during the last fifteen minutes of the first half, but the only reward for their pressure was Michael Power's perfectly-flighted chip into the empty net from a narrow angle after he had taken the ball round the 'keeper.
That was Power's 18th goal of the season for Cray, but he missed a golden chance to add to his tally when he put a penalty-kick high over the bar in the 60th minute after his shot had been handled.
Sittingbourne equalised in the 68th minute and although the 1-1 final score meant that the Wands extended their unbeaten record of League games to 24, they slipped down from second to third in the table after Tooting & Mitcham won at Eastbourne Town.
Cray are in Easter holiday action versus Croydon Athletic (H) on Saturday and Chatham Town (A) on Monday. Both games start at 3pm.
