Walker's Bromley role placed in doubt

Andy Walker (above) faces an uncertain future with the Lillies

SIMON Osborn has conceded Andy Walker's future at Hayes Lane is uncertain.

The Bromley goalkeeper, who is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, may be following Nic McDonnell through the exit door as the budget restrictions begin to kick in for the Lillywhites.

Striker McDonnell was the first to depart after the coffers were tightened at the club and speculation suggests Walker may be about to follow in his footsteps.

Player-manager Osborn told News Shopper: "I'm hoping there won't be any more departures. I made it clear I didn't want Nic to go but he felt it was the right time for him to move on.

"I tried my hardest to keep him at the club, I was under no pressure to let him go but he chose to leave."

He added: "I don't know what I'm doing with Andy Walker as I've got to see what happens with his injury and the budget.

"We'll cross this bridge as and when we come to it."

After Saturday's 3-1 defeat against Newport County, Bromley's play-off aspirations were dealt a heavy blow and now with only three games remaining, the Lillywhites will need a miracle to make the top five.

Osborn said: "It's going to be very difficult and I'm under no illusions.

"Saturday was vitally important with Newport being on the same points as us.

"I know it's going to be very difficult now, but I want to win these last three games and see what happens."

Bromley face Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday and although the term must-win is slightly over-used, it describes this match perfectly as anything less than three points will dissipate any lingering promotion hopes.

It will be a tough task, however, against a team who despite their mid-table position, have promotion hopes of their own, being three points off fifth place with a game in hand.

Osborn said: "They're going to be difficult to beat as they're a really good side and have had a good season and their cup run has highlighted this.

"They've got a tough game at Newport on Wednesday so we've got to hope Newport get something there and we can pick up points against them.

"I want to win these last two home games for the fans."

Bromley have no fresh injury concerns, although long-term absentee Walker (shoulder) remains on the sidelines and Mark DeBolla is suspended.
