BROMLEY returned from Hertfordshire on Saturday on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline after hosts Bishop's Stortford outplayed them for long periods of the game.
With the two clubs still in with a chance of making the play-offs, the three points at stake were important to both sides.

But it was the home side who showed more urgency and deservedly took the spoils to move into the last play-off position in the table.
Bromley, having withstood a rampant Stortford side in the opening stages, were unlucky not to have taken the lead on 11 minutes with their first attack when newcomer Mark De Bolla curled a shot just around the post.
Stortford then hit the post following a slick movement down the left, culminating in Louis Fazakerley flicking on Danny Lunan's cross onto the outside of the woodwork.
Gareth I Williams then went full length to tip the strikers shot around the post.
The home side took the lead on 22 minutes when Jason Mason crossed for Sam Higgins to nod down for Fazakerley to volley home.
Sam Wood was denied two minutes later when goalkeeper Joe Welch turned his low shot around the post before another newcomer, Karl Beckford, should have done better when he blasted over from a good position.
Stortford could have increased their lead when Ahmed Deen blazed over an empty goal as the home side finished the half on top.
A dipping shot by Lunan beat Gareth I. Williams before Fazakerley drove across the face of the goal, as did Higgins as Stortford continued where they had left off in the first half.
Bromley's play improved following the introduction of Gareth A. Williams on 55 minutes.
Danny Hockton went close with two headers from corner kicks on the left before De Bolla's shot was palmed away by Welch at full-stretch.
But the points were secured for the home side on 67 minutes when poor defending saw Bromley fail to deal with a corner from the left and Paul Goodacre volleyed home from 10 yards.
Omari Coleman wasted a good chance in the closing stages and Gareth A Williams was denied by Welch at the near post as Stortford held on for an easy victory.
Perhaps Bromley must reflect on the decision to play two newcomers and one player who had only made his debut the previous week in such an important fixture.
