MILLWALL bounced back from two consecutive away defeats with a comfortable victory over basement side Port Vale on Saturday.
Lewis Grabban and Marc Laird grabbed their first goals for the club, while David Martin added a third.
The visitors were outclassed by the Lions and Kenny Jackett was pleased with his side's performance, although warned his team they must go on a run of good results to escape their perilous position near the bottom of League One.
He said: "Of late we've taken one step forward, shown some encouraging signs and then taken one step back with a defeat, so it would be nice if we could take the second and third steps in the coming weeks to build on what was a very good victory.
"There were some encouraging signs for the future individually and in the balance of the team. We moved the ball well and looked constructive in possession."

Martin was a key figure for Millwall, having a hand in all three of the goals and Jackett was particularly pleased with the start the 22-year-old has made to his Millwall career.
The Lions boss added: "He's only had two games for us.
"But he's showing some signs that perhaps he can do something for Millwall in the future. There were some positive signs for the future out there today."
Vale were put under pressure from the first whistle by the Lions with Justin Miller, the visitor's full-back, heading over his own bar as the visiting defence dealt with several dangerous corners early on.
But their resilience was broken on 17 minutes when Grabban netted his first goal for Millwall with a fine strike.
Inspirational winger Martin cut in from the left flank and fed Gary Alexander, who laid the ball off to the recent signing from Crystal Palace on the edge of the box and he fired a low, right-footed effort into the bottom corner.
The Lions continued to push forward and two saves from Vale keeper Joe Anyon from Grabban kept Millwall at bay before Alexander fired straight at Anyon from six yards out.
However, the Port Vale stopper could do nothing to prevent Laird extending the lead on 44 minutes.
The former Manchester City midfielder beat George Pilkington to a superb Martin cross and directed the ball into the Vale goal.
Millwall continued to dominate after the interval with Grabban and Jay Simpson continuing to expose the visitors' defence.
Kyle Perry was the only threat from the Vale attack.
The forward hit a speculative drive from long range and connected with a Paul Harsley free-kick, but both efforts failed to trouble Rhys Evans in the Millwall goal.
On 67 minutes, the match was put beyond doubt when the impressive Martin scored the goal of the game.
The former Palace winger dribbled from the halfway line past five Vale players before firing a fierce shot past Anyon from eight yards.
Victory was a comfortable one for Kenny Jackett's side and in truth, the Lions could have won by a much greater margin.
