Millwall were extended their unbeaten league run to 14 games with an thrilling draw with Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Easter Monday.

Jake Cooper put the Lions ahead in the first-half but the home side struck back with two goals in as many minutes, through Ben Folami and then seconds Martyn Waghorn.

George Saville recused the visitors a point, though, with a fine finish just before the hour mark.

Ipswich started the better and Jordan Archer had to be at his best to make a fine double save to deny former Lion Martyn Waghorn after good work from Adam Webster.

Lee Gregory had Millwall’s first chance of the game but could only tamely drag his shot wide via a deflection and Jake Cooper had to make a fine last-ditch intervention to prevent a dangerous Cole Skuse cross from finding Waghorn at the other end.

Mustapha Carayol tried his luck from 25-yards for the home side but could only fire over whilst Steve Morison headed over for the Lions from a Jed Wallace cross.

The Lions were growing into the game and went ahead just before the half-hour mark as Shaun Williams found Ben Marshall in a wide area and advanced to the bye-line before crossing for Cooper to head home his third Championship goal of the campaign, much to the delight of the 2,000 travelling fans.

George Saville could have extended Millwall’s lead but he failed to hit the target from another dangerous Wallace cross from the right after quick thinking from Morison to find him.

Millwall made the worst possible start to the half as firstly Ben Folami bundled home to bring the hosts back on level terms and then barely a minute later Cooper sold Archer short and Martyn Waghorn took full advantage to round Archer and slot home.

It didn’t take long for the Lions to get themselves back into the game as just six minutes later Wallace sent over another dangerous cross and Saville latched onto it before smashing home at the far-post to make it 2-2.

The second-half was an extremely open affair and the Lions had a wonderful chance to regain the lead on 78 minutes, but Gregory couldn’t find the target after good link-up play with Mahlon Romeo.

The Lions could have claimed all three points late in the game but, firstly Gregory was denied from close-range and then Aiden O’Brien smashed the inside of the post from the rebound.

Romeo, O’Brien and Wallace all had clear-cut chances late in the came as the Lions were camped in the Ipswich box, but the home side held on for a point.
