Millwall are investigating reports of racial abuse aimed at Wolves players and staff.

The Lions drew 2-2 with the league leaders in a thrilling encounter on Boxing Day.

But the game has been marred by claims of racism from Millwall fans.

In a statement issued yesterday evening, it read: “Millwall Football Club has today (Wednesday 27th December) been made aware of alleged abuse directed towards Wolverhampton Wanderers players and club staff during the Sky Bet Championship game between the two clubs at The Den on Boxing Day.

“The club will, alongside Wolves, have its own security team and the police, investigate these serious allegations immediately and comprehensively.

“The club will make no further comment until that investigation has concluded but wishes to reiterate that it operates a strict zero-tolerance policy to any abuse of this kind at its football matches.”
