Millwall boss Neil Harris is keen to extend David Martin’s stay at the Den.

The goalkeeper, 31, signed a short-term deal in September, which runs until January 2018.

Former MK Dons star Martin is yet to make his Lions debut due to the form of first-choice stopper Jordan Archer.

But Harris has been impressed by Martin’s professionalism and wants to keep him at the club.

He told News Shopper: “There have been really positive discussions. I want David to stay. He’s done really well.

“He’s a top quality goalkeeper with a point to prove at this level. I’ve got two young goalkeepers in Jordan Archer and Tom King who have got huge potential.

“We just felt we needed a little bit of experience in that department and that’s not changed whether that’s in the team or training group. Dave certainly gives us that.”

Martin could return to Millwall’s matchday squad against Aston Villa on Saturday after missing the last three games with an ankle injury.
