Millwall star Lee Gregory has reiterated his desire to sign a new deal.

But the former Halifax striker, whose contract expires next summer, is yet to hold talks with Lions chiefs over his future.

Gregory said he wanted to extend his stay at the Den after helping Millwall win promotion last May.

When asked if there had been any new contract talks, Gregory told News Shopper: “Nothing. I’m still keen. I like it here - I’m enjoying my football.

“I like the backroom staff, I like the lads. So whatever comes my way, comes my way.

“But I’m just focusing on this season and hopefully we can stay up.”

Gregory, 29, has been a hit since arriving from non-league Halifax in 2014.

He scored nine goals in his debut season, which ended in relegation, before enjoying two prolific campaigns in League One.

The Sheffield-born forward signed a new contract last year amid interest from Rotherham and Brighton. But as it stands, he will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Gregory would like his future resolved quickly, he said: “Yeah. I think everyone wants to get their security sorted.

“But honestly, this is the first time I’ve thought about it. I’m just taking each game as it comes. I need to make sure Millwall stay in the Championship.”

Gregory has been an ever-present in Neil Harris’ side this season, scoring twice.

The Lions are five points clear of the drop zone, but have not been ruthless enough in front of goal.

And Millwall’s attacking players were criticised by Harris in their previous home game - a 1-0 defeat to Burton.

Gregory added: “We’re all grown men here. If you can’t take a bit of criticism then you’re in the wrong game.

“We’re not obviously scoring so the gaffer can say his part. And until we start scoring we can’t come back [to him] with anything.

“We just have to take everything the gaffer says on board. He was a striker, a great striker, so he’s saying it to teach us. We’re just getting on with it.

“We just need a little bit of luck where the keeper isn't pulling off ridiculous saves or when we’re hitting the post.

“Everything is not bouncing for me but it’s happened before and it’s changed round, and I believe it’s going to happen again.”

Gregory has the chance to get on the scoresheet when Millwall host Championship strugglers Hull tonight.
