Millwall manager Neil Harris hopes Tom Elliott can return to first-team action after the international break.

A quad muscle problem has sidelined Lions striker Elliott for over a month - his last appearance came in an EFL cup defeat to Reading.

In his absence, Steve Morison, 34, has had to play every minute of league football.

And the return of Elliott, who has scored three goals in six appearances, will give Harris the chance to rest Morison.

Harris said: “Tom’s been a big miss for us. Not just because of his presence and availability, but I've kept playing Steve Morison.

“He plays with his heart on his sleeve, leads by example and isn't getting younger.

“Steve needs that respite and support in attack. We'll certainly be a better squad with Tom fit.”

Elliott will aim to be fit for Millwall’s trip to Brentford next Saturday.
