Millwall manager Neil Harris says he is happy with his squad, but would like to add one more player to allow someone to leave.

Harris has already made seven signings this summer, with two of the new arrivals George Saville and Jed Wallace scoring in Millwall’s first league win of the season against Norwich City.

He said: “I thought I was close this week to bringing one more in, just one in to let somebody go out, just to give us a boost and a little bit more experience in the group.

“Again, our transfer policy has not changed. It must be the right character, somebody that is going to come in and boost us, make us better as a group.

“Not necessarily to make the starting eleven better, but to make the 21-man squad better. If I do, then great, if I do not, then I am happy with my squad.”

Harris is pleased with the way his summer signings have settled in and says players who are out of the starting line-up are pushing for a first-team place.

He added: “Some in the starting eleven, some coming off the bench have been making an impact. People like Jake Cooper must be patient now. It’s a squad game for us.

“Yes, that is the same team three games in a row, but they are being pushed every day by the players behind.

“The players cannot step off for one moment, because they know their place will be gone and if their place goes, they might struggle to get back in.

“That is the level of competition you want. We are not a Fifa game where you rotate the players all the time win or lose.”
