Millwall manager Neil Harris praised goalkeeper Jordan Archer’s performance in the draw against Bristol City.

Archer was called into action several times, both by his own defence and by Bristol’s attackers, and produced a save to deny Bobby Reid shortly after the restart.

He would be tested by Josh Brownhill from long range, but in the end looked to have overcome Tuesday night’s error against Ipswich Town.

Harris said: “He was reliable today and I was really pleased.

“He’s a young man still learning his trade and he’s got a lot of pressure in this league to be a number one.

“All players, young players in particular, have performances that dip in both ways. And that’s what is going to happen, so I was really pleased with him today.”

Fred Onyedinma, Tom Elliott and Shane Ferguson were introduced late on as the Lions pushed for a winner, with Elliott hitting the post from Ferguson’s free-kick on 78 minutes.

And in injury-time, Onyedinma could have snatched all three points when he got into the box, but his attempt and George Saville’s shot were both met by a determined Frank Fielding in the goalless draw.

Harris added: “I thought we got stronger as the game went on.

“The substitutes made a really good impact, and barring the keeper’s save and a defender’s block, we could have got all three points.

“We could have been a little bit more composed on the counter-attack, [and] I think we could have provided better chances.”

Millwall had 16 corners, with 11 in the first half, but failed to score from any of them.

Despite solid performances, it now becomes four games without a win as Norwich City visit The Den next Saturday.

Harris said: “We were much better at [Nottingham] Forest where we should have won the game, but we also learned some harsh lessons about Championship football on Tuesday night [against Ipswich Town], for us as a team, and managed the game much better today.

“It was a really professional performance, but it was missing that end product.”
