Millwall boss Neil Harris has piled the pressure on Nottingham Forest by insisting: They need to beat us.

Forest are strong favourites to stroll past the Championship new boys at the City Ground on Friday night.

And Harris believes Millwall are underdogs going into their opening game.

He said: “Forest need to beat us, really. They are under massive pressure. They’ve spent money over the summer, they've got a big squad.

“There are players on big wages - they’re expected to roll us over on Friday night. We can go there with spirit and confidence and we’ll certainly look forward to it.”

Reds manager Mark Warburton signed prolific Newcastle striker Daryl Murphy in a £2m deal last month.

Once again, it highlighted the massive gap in spending between Championship clubs, with Millwall having one of the smallest budgets in the league.

Harris added: “We are going to come up against teams with double, triple, quadruple our budget, a lot of the teams will have bought a single player for more than my whole team is worth - wages and signing fees [included].

“So, there will be an element to that where we will be the underdog. We’re going to embrace it and enjoy it.

“We’re going to go into most weekends where teams will be expected to beat us and that’s going to be a problem for them.”
