Millwall boss Neil Harris says he was never worried by his side’s poor form in pre-season.

The Lions were without a win in their four previous games, before a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Granada at the Den on Saturday.

Goals from Jed Wallace, Shaun Williams and Aiden O’Brien gave the hosts a routine victory in their final outing before the season gets underway on Friday night.

Harris told News Shopper: “Pre-season is for fans to judge people. It is for me to assess my players and my players to get minutes.

“Do I worry about results in pre-season? No, not at all.

“I have played in pre-season campaigns where we have been brilliant and not won a game in the first six and I have played in campaigns where we have not won games and started off with three wins in a row.”

Harris was also pleased with the ruthlessness the Lions showed with and without the ball against their Spanish counterparts.

He added: “I thought the discipline we showed at times to not get sucked in to pressing the ball and not get sucked in to scrappy play showed real determination and willpower.

“With the ball, I can pick four or five moments that we could have done well with the football, but there were some real moments of quality and the moments of quality in the game certainly came from us against Granada.”
