AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley says Millwall new boy Tom Elliott deserves the chance to play Championship football.

Elliott, 26, left the Dons to sign a two-year deal with Millwall on Friday.

The former Leeds striker netted 13 goals last season and will compete with Steve Morison and Lee Gregory for a place in the Lions team.

Ardley said: “Tom told me all along that he would like to explore the opportunity of playing Championship football. If it had not worked out, he was desperate to stay and play for AFC Wimbledon.
