Aiden O’Brien insists Millwall have learned from last season’s Wembley heartache.

The Lions missed out on promotion after losing 3-1 to Barnsley in the League One play-off final.

But following their 3-2 aggregate win over Scunthorpe on Sunday, Neil Harris’ men have the chance to make amends against Bradford on May 20.

O’Brien said: “It was a very, very tough way to end the season last year.

“We came so close to promotion. It broke our hearts and it probably broke the fans' hearts, too.

“Now we're determined not to let it happen again. It's a massive day. Only one team wins, only one team goes up and we are prepared to do everything we need to make sure it's our year.”

O’Brien has impressed in a Lions shirt this season, scoring 15 goals, which helped the Lions make the play-offs.

The Islington-born forward is likely to start against Bradford at Wembley, and is confident Millwall will come out on top.

Speaking to millwallfc.co.uk, he added: “Everyone has a few days off to clear their heads.

“I'm going to go and chill at home with family and friends and take a step back.

“We've had three really intense games in such a short space of time and once we've had a second to breathe we will prepare for Bradford.

“Once the match comes around we will all be switched on. Everyone knows their job and if we perform like we have been then I know that it will be us celebrating at the end of 90 minutes.”
