Neil Harris revealed Joe Martin was in agony following Millwall’s hard-fought draw with Bradford at the Den.

A Byron Webster own goal on the stroke of half-time provided the Bantams with a narrow lead at the break.

The Lions equalised through defender Martin and, despite both sides creating several chances, the score remained 1-1.

Martin was a major doubt to take part in the fixture due to a shoulder injury but made it clear to Harris that he wanted to be involved.

Harris said: “Joe has a really dodgy shoulder – he’s had to have all sorts of treatment to get himself out on the pitch today.

“I don’t always praise individuals but he certainly deserved it today but up until yesterday he wasn’t in contention.

“He said to me he wanted to play, he’s in a lot of agony now but it shows his professionalism.

“He trained yesterday and said he wanted to play. It’s a muscular problem so it’s painful, especially when you have to keep taking throw-ins.”

Bradford, who remain unbeaten this season, started strongly and Jordan Archer was forced into action to keep out a Nicky Law header on 10 minutes.

Steve Morison felt aggrieved that the Lions were not awarded a penalty after seeing his header blocked – and a minute later Bradford went ahead.

The visitors broke with pace through Mark Marshall and while the winger’s shot was saved, Webster was unable to stop the ball rebounding off his foot and into the net.

Millwall were close to equalising soon after but stopper Colin Doyle reacted well to push Shaun Williams’ header over the bar.

Harris’ side drew level just after the interval through Joe Martin – the left-back drilled a 20-yard shot past Doyle.

The hosts threatened through substitute Fred Onyedinma but Bradford could have nicked it at the death.

Mahlon Romeo failed to clear his lines and the ball fell to Law, who saw his close-range effort superbly tipped onto the post by Archer.

Harris added: “It was a great save and I was really pleased for Jordan. He had a difficult start, he signed a new contract and the save at the end showed his quality and his ability.

“That’s what team spirit is all about. Mahlon makes a horrendous error but Jordan gets him out of a hole and there will be loads of times this season when we rely on that team spirit.”
