Jordan Archer has signed a new long-term contract that will keep him at Millwall until the summer of 2019.

The 23-year-old stopper, who has played more than 50 games for the club, expressed his delight at securing his future to the Lions.

He told the official Millwall website: “I'm delighted – I’ve always stated that I'm happy to stay at this great club.

“The fans have really taken to me and it's exciting to be part of the group of young players who are coming through. There is some experience in the squad too and we've got great coaches who I enjoy working with on a day-to-day basis.

“The manager has shown great faith in me since the day I signed so I have to thank him. Hopefully I can continue to repay the backing he has given me.”

Archer had been in talks with Millwall for several weeks and manager Neil Harris insisted he has a big future ahead of him.

“Jordan has been exceptional,” the 39-year-old said. “He's still a young man but is very driven and has a big future in front of him at this football club.

“I'm delighted to have secured his signature, which is a sign of the club's ambition because he has been attracting interest from elsewhere.”
