Mikael Ndjoli has penned a one-year deal with Bournemouth.

The former Millwall prospect, 18, joins the Cherries from League One side Millwall and will initially link up with Stephen Purches’ U21 squad.

Ndjoli netted 20 goals in 24 games for the Lions’ youth teams last season and was being tracked by several Premier League clubs earlier in the year.

Arsenal and Crystal Palace were among the list of admirers but Bournemouth have won the race for his signature.

Purches revealed Ndjoli impressed Bournemouth coaches in a game organised over the summer, and referred to the former Lion as an “exciting talent”.

He said: “Mikael came in for a game we organised in the summer.

“A lot of people were watching that game and he really grabbed it by the scruff of the neck, he impressed us straight away.

“His stats from last year at Millwall prove he can score goals, they told us he was really unfortunate not to get a professional contract. They’re producing plenty of good young players at Millwall for their first-team, he was very unfortunate.

“But in our pre-season so far he’s really grabbed the opportunity, he’s looked very sharp and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do – he’s an exciting talent.”
