Millwall boss Neil Harris expects to sign his first player of the summer “very soon”.

The Lions are expected to enjoy a busy summer transfer window after just missing out on Championship football last season.

A superb run of form after Christmas saw Millwall reach the League One play-off final but they were beaten 3-1 by Barnsley at Wembley.

Harris has now revealed that the club are close to completing a deal for a winger.

The 38-year-old told millwallfc.co.uk: “We are very close to adding a wide player to the squad and it will be important to get that done, so hopefully it can be announced soon.

“There will be an attacking element to the players I want to bring in and that is key for the fan base to see that we are going to try and score a lot of goals.”

Harris added: “You can't stand still in professional football.

“You have to always strive to be better and the signings we brought in last year, loans and permanent ones, were successful.

“We have to try and re-enact that straight away and try to bring a squad together that gives us different options in games at different stages of the season.”
